Senior Engineer, Database Service 

The role is responsible for the day-to-day operational aspects of database administration to meet the business needs and service level for database in On-Prem & Cloud/ Azure covering ORACLE (11g,12c,19c) including RAC & Non RAC plus another database language e.g. MSSQL/ SQLMI /MYSQL /POSTGRES /Mongo including cluster.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1st and 2nd level operational database support on functions associated with maintenance of Oracle Server databases plus MSSQL/SQLMI/MYSQL/POSTGRES/Mongo cluster/standalone on prem/cloud including administration, performance, security &hardening, back-up, dataguard configuration and maintenance, reporting, and recovery procedures.
• Assist and respond promptly to incident, investigate & provide permanent resolution of incidents escalated.
• Manage database changes through change request process & provide status reports to the relevant parties.
• Monitor & measure the performance & availability of databases proactively; implement corrective actions identified to improve.
• Perform regular security patching for the DBs including RAC/Cluster db.
• Handle service continuity measures, i.e., backup/restore procedures & disaster recovery plan, to ensure continuous operation of the business.
• Manage / maintain & optimise Oracle DB space including tablespaces, ASM &database FS, Periodic rebuild to defragment.
• Manage DB access and Create, Change, delete users accounts as per request following security guidelines.
• Monitor and maintain database backups.
• Create and maintain database related documents including asset, SOP etc.
• Review & perform application and core DB deployments .
• Audit related hardening & Support
• Prompt 24x7 support and prepared to be on standby mode whenever needed

Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Added advantage if have additional certification like Oracle/ MSSQL /MYSQL/EDB /POSTGRES/MONGO Professional Certification
• Minimum 3 years and above experience in Oracle (Standalone+RAC/ Cluster) plus work experience on MS SQL / MYSQL/ EDB /Postgres /MongoDB
• Experience in performing database Patching, backup & recovery as well as excellent troubleshooting and performance tuning skill is a must (Including cluster architecture)
• Implement and manage DR, Audit, Backup & Monitoring of DBs.
• Strong analytical skills for problem-solving database-related issues.

Note:

• No shift required, but need to be prepared to be on standby according to team rotation
• Fully onsite however if needed to work after office hours, there’s flexibility for employee to discuss with their manager to work from home the next day
