IT Specialist (based in Penang)

Job Summary:

The candidate will be responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and managing software, hardware, and network solutions in both physical and virtual environments. Resourcefulness and good communication skills are necessary for this role. The candidate should be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly. The objective is to ensure that the IT infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently to minimize downtime and maintain business productivity.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design and develop plans for the network infrastructure, upgrades, and assess hardware/software needs for scalability and security
• Deploy and configure network devices (routers, switches, firewalls), servers, and storage systems
• Monitor network performance, fine-tune systems, apply patches, and ensure high availability with minimal downtime
• Implement security measures, manage firewalls, VPNs, and protect data from threats
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve network, connectivity, and system issues and outages
• Provide technical expertise for various system services such as Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, Exchange Online, Windows OS, Virtualization, Cisco Cloud Meraki, Cisco Firewall/Switches, etc., to ensure services run with optimum health, performance, and security
• Maintain accurate records of network configurations, changes, and standard operating procedures
• Collaborate with corporate IT and vendors to integrate systems and meet business goals
• Plan and test backup and disaster recovery strategies
• Resolve problems reported by end users

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum a Diploma/Degree in Information Technology, Computer Studies or a related discipline
• Professional certification in MCP/MSCE/MCSA/CCNA/ITILv4 is advantageous
• Minimum 5 years of relevant IT Infrastructure work experience in MNC or enterprise environment
• Strong systems administration experience in one or more of the following is preferred (Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, Exchange Online, Windows OS, Virtualization, Cisco Cloud Meraki, Cisco Firewall/Switches)
• Good project management skills in handling regional and global projects
• Service-oriented, strong leadership and interpersonal skills, and adaptable to a fast-paced dynamic environment
• Team player with good leadership, communication, interpersonal and coordination skills
• Strong problem-solving and resourcefulness skills
• Willing to work in Penang.
